I am a twentysomething orchestra conductor and music educator in the greater New York metropolitan area. I conduct groups in three different programs— two private institutions and one university pre-college program (of which I am also the director of the youth symphonies) and I also head an elementary school string program in a private day school. My aim is that this blog can be an opportunity to express my musical thoughts, provide extra-rehearsal information for my Internet-savvy students and their parents as well as insight for young people considering a career in music, and encourage a general thoughtfulness and love of education and music-making. Why mskimberly? …Because my last name’s a tongue-twister, so that’s what all my pupils call me. 🙂
